Jamiat provides relief to floods-affliced Punjab.Agra: Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has helped rescue flood-damaged Punjab, hit by floods which have claimed in excess of 20 lakh and where close to 2,000 villages have been drowned.

It was triggered by the plea of Duniya Arshad Madani, president Jamiat who became entangled in mobilising mosques, madrasas and local committees. Food, medicines and clothes converged in the affected regions in convoys that came out of Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Mewat, and other regions of western Uttar Pradesh.

At Pilkhana (Aligarh) alone 18 tonnes of rations went out. The Uttarakhand unit of Jamiat donated donations in the value of 50 lakh, Madhya Pradesh unit donated cash and food grains and wheat as part of the donations to Gurdwaras in the Sheopur district.

Jamiat general secretary Maulana Hakimuddin Qasmi added that this was the initial wave of aid and it has been in constant influx since and still gets the aid. He also said Jamiat is presently organizing rehabilitation of people who are affected.
