The money laundering investigation conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into illegal online betting sites such as the notorious 1xBet application has drawn the names of a very long list of cricketers and film actors.
The list of those who have been questioned or called to date is as follows:
- Robin Uthappa (39): Was subpoenaed to appear before ED on September 22.
- Yuvraj Singh (43): to be overthrown on September 23.
- Sonu Sood (52): He is to be questioned on September 24.
- Suresh Raina: Have already presented himself before the agency and made his statement.
- Shikhar Dhawan: Changes his statement with investigators in recent weeks.
- Mimi Chakraborty (Former MP, actor): This controversial politician and actor appeared before ED on Monday.
- Ankush Hazra (actor): Interviewed by ED on Tuesday.
- Urvashi Rautela (actress, the brand ambassador of 1xBet): She still has not been cast regardless of being called in.
- Prakash Raj (actor): Said never received a fee in terms of betting apps, was shown in Hyderabad.
- Rana Daggubati (actor): called and interviewed in the previous month.
- Vijay Deverakonda (actor): It was clear that he was only supporting authorized gambling applications but not casinos.
- Lakshmi Manchu (actor):Student appeared before ED the previous month in Hyderabad.
The larger case:
On behalf of illegally deposited investments to crores, evasion of colossal taxes, ED is investigating claims that the illegal betting application duped investors.
The agency pursued numerous FIRs filed by state police under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Numerous celebrities were accused of promoting or advertising such apps via social networks, attracting clients to gambling.
