Bengaluru: Two women were robbed of their gold chains by bike-borne miscreants in separate attacks.

On Saturday night, two homemakers were robbed of gold chains worth Rs 3.9 lakh by two bike-borne miscreants at Hosakerehalli, Banashankari III Stage. One of the women was also attacked with a machete during the incident.

Usha BM and her friend Varalakshmi were walking to a music event near a school as part of Ganesha festival celebrations when the robbery occurred. Around 9 pm, a man on a Bajaj Pulsar, who had initially taken a U-turn after finding the road blocked, stopped his bike a short distance away with a pillion rider.

The pillion rider, whose face was concealed by a helmet and who was wearing a jacket and jeans, approached the women. He threatened them with a machete and demanded their chains. Before they could react, he snatched Usha’s nine-gram mangalya chain. When Varalakshmi resisted, holding tightly to her 45-gram chain, the miscreant struck her hand twice with the machete before robbing her chain.

The injured women cried for help, and the miscreants fled on their bike. Police stated that the culprits were captured on multiple CCTV cameras and on a resident’s mobile phone.
